Media day is Tuesday and we’re gonna have a chance to talk to players. If you have fun or thoughtful question suggestions, I’m all ears.

They are allowed to have a good number of roster turnover this year. Why? Because they have a brand new coaching staff. Thats typically the norm for new coaching staffs bringing in the players they want to bring in.

So you think JmU is bagging on ODUs turnover and then they tell recruits that their own turnover is acceptable lol

ODU has had oodles of turnover with this staff over the last couple of years. More so than average. The numbers dont lie. Numbers should be higher automatically when there is a new coaching staff in place.

Another beautiful punch line for Rally!!! What an intelligent football mind we have here folks. Its a shame we cant utilize his endless football knowledge on our staff. Hell maybe even FL State could hire him!

They ask us who we want to talk to at media day so they can make sure that player talks to us. There is a lot going on and a ton of players available to talk. If they didn't have any direction on who wants to talk to who, it would be a mess.

And it doesn't stop us from talking to other athletes if we have the time to talk to them. Last year we interviewed 3 other players we didn't plan on because we had the time.

As for access to the players, they give access to different players each media session. Whether the media talks to them or not is up to the media. I would assume a lot of those interviews never get past the cutting room floor because the answers are so basic and kind of boring.

I understand there have been several meetings between VP and football and nothing has been achieved, as in compromise.
Today's media day appears to be the exception to the rule, not the norm. Once a year is hardly enough to satisfy those of us who really care.

If accurate, this is a point of concern. ODU honestly used to have some of the best coverage of any team in the G5. That was in large part due to the Virginian Pilot. It has been very quiet this offseason for sure. I wonder if a strained relationship (to go along with slashed staff and budgets) are part of it. I would think ODU could just send Harry's articles (which have also been infrequent) off to the VP, DP, RTD etc for them to pick up for free like the AP. Maybe that's frowned upon since Harry is a paid employee for the school and that would go against journalistic integrity? Just a guess. But anything we can do to gin up publicity across the state is imperative.

You missed the point. Media Day is a completely different animal. I'm talking week to week during the season when they trot out someone the press may or may not have asked for. I'm told many requests for players are denied. In your capacity as unofficial athletic mouthpiece (which I've said before you are very good at), you have a different standard for what you want than traditional media (VP./DP).
And, no, Monarx ODU just can't send Harry's stuff over to be used. The AP isn't free; the papers buy the material via subscription. Harry's job, paid by ODU, is to promote the good news about ODU athletics and, again, he's excellent at it.

I know that. But is there something stopping ODU from allowing its content to be reprinted in newspapers? Im sure they want it to drive traffic to the ODU site, but thats not going to build new awareness. I would hope ODU would allow newspapers to pick up their content and build the brand beyond the base. I think the bigger question is whether a newspaper would do so, even if the content were free, due to journalistic standards (meaning the content isn't "objective, true journalism". Harry is a great writer, I loved his stuff at the VP and certainly continue to enjoy his writing at ODU as well.

According to WTKR, RR has stated Wilson will be the starter at QB. Not a surprise, but with rumors of Morehead looking good it’s still interesting. Especially with a week to go and RR usually being so tight lipped.
